There are container terminal and freight stations inland points namely New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad. In order to avail of the customs facility at these points, it must be ensured that the line has booked the container or LCL cargo on the bill of lading under the final destination as the inland container terminal.

Q12.

Do I need to obtain a landing certificate or declare to customs about the impending unaccompanied shipment?

No, the landing certificate is no longer required. You have only to attend to you accompanied baggage. If you have nothing to declare out of your accompanied baggage, you way walk through the green channel.

Q13.

How can I bring my Pet?

You can carry your pet as accompanied baggage on the same flight or as unaccompanied. If unaccompanied, all you require for clearance of the pet is the vaccination record / health certificate from country of Origin. The certificate should not be older than 10 days before the date of departure of pet from origin. Copies of the air waybill and these certificates should be faxed to us at least two days prior to arrival of the pet. Owner must be present in India. Procedures vary at different customs points.

Q14.

What items are prohibited in the unaccompanied baggage shipment?

All used household goods that have been in your possession for at least the last 1 year can be imported free of duties and taxes, provided you can submit all necessary documentation if required by the Indian Customs. Alcoholic Beverages are prohibited and would attract heavy duties and penalties. Firearms and Ammunition is strictly prohibited. Please be careful in not shipping any commercial cargo or goods in commercial quantity along with the baggage shipment as this can attract heavy duties and lead to indefinite delay at time of clearance.

Q15.

The time required for packing the goods usually depends upon the volume of the shipment. A shipment going in a 20' container would take up to 3 days including the time required for loading into our trucks.

The survey is carried out by one of our experts who will also provide you with all the relevant information regarding your relocation. The survey is carried out free of charge

Q17.

What are the required documents for importing a household goods shipment?

The basic documents required for customs clearance are the original passport, a copy of the packing list, a copy of your residence permit incase of a foreign national and a visa valid for at least 1 year.

Q18.

Is it necessary to insure the household goods shipment?

Yes. While all the efforts are made to protect the goods, there are lots of influences during the transport from door-to-door that cannot be controlled by the moving company. All moving companies offer insurance on household goods shipment during transit. Be sure to use that insurance company which has representation in the country offers a door to door insurance cover which should even cover storage if required at origin / destination. Please note that premiums might vary if the shipment includes valuables and high value artwork.

Q19.

Is the moving company responsible/liable for damage to the household goods?

That is why we recommend getting an insurance cover on the household goods shipment on a door-to-door basis. The liability of the moving company is limited by the terms and conditions of the contract. At the same time, all carriers (Air, Road, and Sea) have different limited liabilities and it becomes a problem to single out the guilty party.

Q20.

Is the cheapest quote the best way to go?

While pricing is extremely important for you it is also very important that you understand the quotation and other factors properly. One must keep in mind the quality and experience of the removals company. One way to go about it is by asking for their customer references. Please be sure to carefully analyze and compare the inclusions and exclusions with that of other companies. Moving with the cheapest company could turn into a disaster if the packing material quality is inferior leading to damages or if you are slapped with unexpected extra charges at destination, which could have easily been avoided if you had carefully compared the exclusions and inclusions.
